A Slight Fear of the Dentist...

Ok...I'll admit it..I have a slight fear of going to the dentist! However, there is something that I must admit that is even more shocking...I haven't been to the dentist in over four years!!

Now, it is not necessarily because I am afraid (that is part of it though) but more because we have moved four times in four years and never got established enough to find a dentist. Plus, one of those years we didn't have dental insurance either. So I do have my excuses :)

My fears come from the various bad dental experiences I have had over the years. When I was in fifth grade, I found out I needed braces and, as if that it isn't bad enough, I was going to need to get SIX teeth pulled before they could put on the braces! Well, they went in to pull the first one and part of the tooth broke off and was left stuck in my gums. They had to go back in to extract it and, let's just say, it was extremely painful and they decided not to pull anymore.

I proceeded to have braces put on for FIVE years and ,if you have ever had braces, you know how EXTREMELY painful the visits are to the orthodontist!! It was not pleasant.

Now if you are not a little bit on my side now as to why I have fears of the dentist, then let me tell you one more story. Recently, my husband got the guts to finally go into the dentist after 4+ years of not going. He ended up having TEN cavities!!! I guess I am just afraid that is going to happen to me...so I keep putting it off! :)

I don't like going to the dentist either, but I learned the hard way that it's better to just go than to have a long period when you don't!

I'm just coming home after a double root canal. Yes, TWO root canals in ONE DAY! Not the most pleasant way to start my week.

I do not like going to the dentist. At all.
