St. Francis Winery Review

This summer, the big, bold flavors from the grill demand something BURSTING with ripe fruit flavor. Sonoma County Pioneer St. Francis Winery crafts robust wines, like the ‘Old Vines’ Zinfandel and Sonoma County Chardonnay, that not only stand up to the smokiness, but enhance them. This year, St. Francis is launching a one-stop shop for grilling and entertaining, www.StFrancisSavorTheFlavor.com, which will be home to the St. Francis ‘Fast and Flavorful Guide to Grilling’ a free, downloadable guide written by Celebrity Chef Dave Lieberman, and the Turn Up the Heat consumer photo contest, running through August 31st.

Do you take flavor seriously? If you like wines that burst with flavor and salivate at the sight of a perfectly smoky, toasty bite - you've come to the right place. St. Francis Winery in Sonoma County hand-crafts big, bold, full-bodied wines that not only stand up to, but complement, the intense flavors of grilled foods. The aromas and complexity of St. Francis' wines naturally enhance the sizzle on the grill, resulting in effortless culinary experiences every time.

CLASSIC GRILLED SALMON WITH LEMON, DRIED DILL AND ST. FRANCIS CHARDONNAY
Pair with St. Francis Sonoma County Chardonnay

INGREDIENTS:
About 2 pounds salmon fillet
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons dried dill
¼ cup St. Francis Chardonnay
1 small lemon thinly sliced into rounds
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

PREPARATION:
Rub the salmon fillet with the oil, sprinkle generously with salt and pepper and distribute the dried dill evenly on top of the flesh side of the salmon. Place the fillet in large rectangle of heavy-duty aluminum foil with at least several inches extra on every side. Lift up the sides around the fish but do no close fully. Pour the wine over the fish and top with the lemon slices. Grill on medium heat, with the grill partially covered, for about 20 minutes until cooked through.

My Opinion
I absolutely love St. Francis Winery's site and how they have so many great recipes to try with their wine! They help novice chefs like me find the perfect recipe to match with their delicious wine! Grilling enthusiasts and novices alike will find a variety of resources at StFrancisSavorTheFlavor.com; recommended tools for the grill, techniques to maximize flavors, tips on wine and food pairing and chef Lieberman’s favorite fast recipes. The St. Francis ‘Fast and Flavorful Guide to Grilling’ is a condensed information-packed reference guide created by chef Lieberman and available exclusively on this website.

I even received some great recipes attached to the Chardonnay and Zinfandel wine bottles I received! My favorite is the Salmon recipes shown above! I LOVE salmon and my family loves to grill in the summer so this recipe is PERFECT for our family!

And for all the competitive chefs out there, St. Francis Winery has started their second annual ‘Turn Up the Heat’ photo contest. Starting July 1, entrants can post original, mouth-watering images to the winery’s Flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/photos/stfrancissavortheflavor/, accompanied by captions illustrating how their smoky flavors are maximized with any St. Francis varietal. Creativity is encouraged, as is classic and innovative interpretations of grilled food and daring St. Francis wine pairings. If you are creative and love to grill, head over and enter today! :)
