Get Your Butt Kicked by Jillian Michaels & Giveaway

As you guys know, I had a baby five months ago and am sadly not one of those amazing women who just lose the baby weight instantly after having the baby. I have to work and WORK HARD to lose the weight and get in my pre-baby shape and weight!

I like to run on my treadmill every day but I needed to change things up and give my body a new challenge. However, I needed a workout I could do at home with two children and one that was effective in 30 minutes or less!

That is when Jillian Michaels, the infamous butt kicker from The Biggest Loser, came to mind! I have always heard great things about her workouts but I had yet to try them because I usually prefer sports or running to workout videos. 

So I decided to check out Collage Video's great selection of Jillian Michael workout DVDs and I settled on trying 30 Day Shred! Collage Video has such AMAZING prices on all of their DVDs and they have a great selection of all of your favorite workouts and trainers! I could look through their selection all day!

I initially settled on 30 Day Shred because it claims you can lose 20 lbs in 30 days (who wouldn't want that??!!) and it had three different levels for different levels of fitness. I thought it sounded like a great workout to start out with!

I absolutely love that these fast-paced exercises are structured to keep you burning fat as you sculpt muscle. The programs build in intensity; you can start with the intermediate level and work up to the advanced program (it’s tough! — moves like plyo-lunges and traveling pushups).

These workouts were difficult but not impossible even for beginners! They are structured for people of all strength, weight, and activity level because they give "easier" versions of most of her moves for beginners!

Each workout has three “cycles.” and the workouts do require 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells. Each cycle starts with three minutes of multi-muscle and isolated strength training. Then it’s two minutes of non-dancy kickbox and athletic-style cardio. That’s followed by one minute of classic abwork (then — no rest — you’ll immediately start a new cycle). Like on the TV show, Jillian is both demanding and supportive. I was always sweating like crazy and a little shaky from working so hard after I was done but I felt great getting through and stronger already!

I definitely like that these workouts don't take forever, but are super effective. I think you are supposed to do it everyday to lose the 20 lbs in 30 days that they claim but I have just been doing them about 2 times a week interchanging them with other workouts and abs throughout the week. They don't focus that much on abs (which I really like to do!) so I feel I always need to add a couple of ab specific workouts throughout the week.

But other than that, I definitely recommend 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels for all fitness levels. It includes a great cardio and strength routine and eliminates long trips to the gym and on the treadmill! Whether you are a beginner or workout master, you will find 30 Day Shred intense, challenging, but not impossible!!
