New Cornbread Sandwiches from Dickey's

Are you looking for a Texas-style sandwich that will make your mouth water and your stomach full?

Then let me recommend a new restaurant that I was recently introduced to and their new sandwiches: Dickey's Barbecue Pit and their NEW Buttery Cornbread Sandwiches!

Dickey's Barbecue Pit prides itself on authenticity, innovation and barbecue sauce, one store at a time. With roots in Dallas, Travis Dickey set out to perfect Texas-style barbecue. In 1941, Travis Dickey opened the first Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Dallas, Texas. Space on the restaurant's sign was rented out to help pay the start-up costs for the restaurant and the menu was limited to beef brisket, pit hams, barbecue beans, potato chips, beer, bottled milk and sodas.

Today, every location smokes all of their meats on-site at the restaurant the same way it was done in 1941. Dickey's serves up beef brisket, pulled pork, ham, polish sausage, turkey breast and chicken, with an extensive array of home-style sides from jalapeƱo beans to macaroni and cheese. Buttery rolls are served with every meal along with the complimentary ice cream and dill pickles. And just like always, kids eat free on Sunday.

I recently got the chance to try their new cornbread sandwiches (and some tasty sides!) from our local Dickey's and I have to say I was pretty impressed!

Here are their two new sandwich choices:

Chicken Cornbread Sandwich
This limited time offer sandwich features smoked chicken smothered in spicy Texas Pete sauce topped with a slide of cheddar cheese, pickles and onions on a buttery cornbread bun.

Pulled Pork Cornbread Sandwich
This limited time offer sandwich features southern pulled pork covered in savory, sweet barbecue sauce topped with a slice of cheddar cheese, pickles and onions on a buttery cornbread bun.

I have to say that both sandwiches were very good but we both agreed that we are on Team Pulled Pork with the Sweet barbecue sauce. It is the perfect mix of sweet and tangy and really made the meat stand out and made it is tasty and flavorful!

I also really like the sides that they offer - we tasted some tasty dishes like their Waffle Iron Fries, Baked Potato Casserole, Mac & Cheese and Caesar Salad...and let me tell you, when we were done with our meal, we were FULL and Satisfied!!
