Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt

I wrote this post while participating in a blog tour conducted by Clever Girls on behalf of Dannon. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program but my opinions are my own.

Nutritious Snacking...

I think this is something we all strive for! Snacking and making sure it is a healthy option is so important for maintaining a healthy weight, good health, and keeping your metabolism high and your body burning fat instead of muscle.

I recently found a great nutritious snack and Dannon® Oikos® is the name! I had never had Greek yogurt before but have always heard GREAT things about it so I was super excited to try it! I didn't know much about what Greek yogurt was and what the difference was between conventional yogurt and Greek yogurt. Well, after a little research, this is what I have learned about Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt.

Dannon® Oikos® is created through an authentic Greek straining process which gives it a rich and creamy-thick texture. It is very healthy option because Dannon offers Dannon® Oikos® Plain and Fruit on the Bottom and they contain 0% fat, while the Dannon® Oikos® traditional blended varieties contains about 3% fat. Both are an excellent source of protein, twice that of most regular lowfat yogurts!

Dannon® Oikos® 0% varieties contain active yogurt cultures and range from 80 calories (Plain) to 130 calories (Fruit on the Bottom) per 5.3 oz. cup. Dannon® Oikos® 0% Fat Berry Flavors beat Chobani 2-1 in a taste test!

I got to try the Dannon Oikos Greek yogurt (courtesy of Dannon) and chose to try the single serve Peach Fruit on the Bottom yogurt. When I opened up the lid, the first thing I noticed was how creamy and thick it looked! I LOVE when yogurt is thick and creamy so I was very excited to dig in! Because the fruit was on the bottom, I quickly dug to the bottom and mixed the fruit in. Now, time for my first bite!!!

Mmm....it was as thick and creamy as it looked! The peach fruit was delicious and tasted really fresh and the yogurt plus fruit tasted really good together! I had the cup eaten quickly! It definitely was a filling snack and I really felt like I got my money's worth because it was so thick and creamy and was nice big serving size too!

Best of all, Dannon Oikos can be used in lots of tasty recipes and they give you a bunch of really yummy ideas on their website. I didn't try the Greek yogurt in a recipe this first time because I really wanted to taste it alone first, but I can't wait to try the "Greek" Key Lime Pie recipe! It looks delicious and perfect to celebrate the end of summer!

If you want to try Dannon Oikos out like I did, then make sure to head over to Dannon Oikos Facebook page because they are offering a coupon for a free cup! Enjoy!!

I love the Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt. It's one of the few brands of Greek yogurt I really enjoy--it tastes too good to be that good for you. LoL!
